Asphalt Shingles

Asphalt shingles are the most common type of roofing material in the United States. They’re durable and low-cost, which makes them a great option for many homeowners.

Asphalt shingles come in several different varieties and styles: architectural, dimensional, laminated, and others. They can be installed on roofs that are steep or flat, curved or gabled.

There are three main types of asphalt shingles:

  1. 3-tab asphalt – These are a type of asphalt shingle that features three tabs, or pieces of paper, that are embedded in the shingle. These tabs are what give the shingles their strength. The tabs are made of asphalt and can be found on the bottom and on both sides of the shingle.

  2. 3-tab asphalt shingle
  3. Fiberglass asphalt – These shingles are made with a combination of synthetic fibers (like fiberglass) and asphalt-based materials. They’re lightweight, which makes them easy to handle on steep roofs or in high wind conditions. They also resist weather damage better than most other types of shingles.

  4. Fiberglass Shingles
  5. Architectural style asphalt shingles – These are a type of shingle that has a variety of different profiles and textures. The smooth side of this shingle is designed to be placed on top of the roof, while the rough side is meant for the underside. They come in many sizes, colors, and patterns, so you can customize them to match your home’s design or any other design feature you may have.
